Non-Sports: Domestic terrorist organization offers bounty for teen’s killer

The New Black Panther Party—which even the left’s Southern Poverty Law Center defines as an organization of racist militants—has issued a $10,000 bounty for the “capture” of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch leader who admits to shooting an unarmed teen in a Florida suburb.

Group leader Mikhail Muhammad announced the reward during a protest in Sanford Saturday, and also called for the mobilization of 10,000 black men to effect the capture of Zimmerman.

Muhammad also says he expects the bounty to rise to $1.0 million, citing the support of black athletes and entertainers.

Officials in Sanford, Florida issued a statement by Police Captain Robert O'Connor, condemning the bounty. "The City is requesting calm heads and no vigilante justice. Attempts by civilians to take any person into custody may result in criminal charges or unnecessary violence."

Meanwhile, a Tampa Bay outlet reports that an eyewitness to the shooting saw the teen assaulting Zimmerman before being shot.

Panicking? out of options? PLAY THE RACE CARD!

I honestly thought this would come late next week but with many states now using early voting procedures, I guess the Democrats had to put the race card closer to the top of the deck.  They’re panicking—national and state polls show that while some races are tightening (predictably, I might add), and the money flow on both sides shows that states and districts once deemed safe havens for liberal incumbents have turned into battlegrounds. 

And, they’re out of other options. Their last stroke of genius—the spooky but completely baseless “foreign threat to Democracy” charade fell flat on its face.  None of the generic polling data produced since the White House trotted out the allegations have shown even a micro-bump from the ploy. 

They can’t run on their accomplishments because, well… “It’s just too hard to explain.” The stimulus is political kryptonite.  Healthcare is toxic. 

The only thing left to do is to play the race card.

The Justice Department is looking into allegations of voter intimidation by poll watchers in predominantly minority neighborhoods in Harris County, Texas, during the first day of early voting. A liberal blog suggested that some of the poll watchers could be members of a local Tea Party group.

But the Justice Department has made clear that its investigation has nothing to do with the Tea Party.

"There is no investigation into any specific political organization, including the Tea Party, at this time regarding this matter," DOJ spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa said in a written statement.

In another set of fly-by charges, Democrat Alexi Giannoulias, who is battling to capture President Obama's old U.S. Senate seat in Illinois, accused his Republican opponent, Rep. Mark Kirk, of setting up voter fraud-watch areas in Chicago in an attempt to discourage black voters.

That claim, disputed by Kirk -- he argued that Giannoulias might be the last person in Illinois to think the state doesn't have fraud problems -- could benefit Democrats among an energized urban electorate in a non-presidential cycle likely to be dominated by suburban voters.

Taken together, the complaint and the report shifts the spotlight back on past and current accusations of racism against the Obama administration and the Tea Party movement.

Fly by charges, indeed.  To Democrats, “voter intimidation” means Republican candidates and Tea Party organizations are sending poll watchers to voting places to make sure that voter intimidation does not occur and that voter fraud is exposed. Without such vigilance, Democrats are free to bribe young voters with free rides during school hours and ice cream if they “pass the exam” (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

An absolute smackdown is coming in twelve days. The Democrats know it.  The public relations arm of the Democrat Party knows it.

The only card of any value left in their worthless hand is the race card, and having to play it so early means the Democrats are panicking.

Progressives and the race card

It's a decades-old ploy that the progressive left have nearly perfected.  If any debate or controversy can be framed in race, it is.  Our President was supposed to have been the "post-racial" regime.  It has been anything but.  From the day he announced his candidacy for the highest office in the land, right through the recent weeks' announcements that two prominent black Democrats would face ethics charges, allegations of racially-motivated opposition surface as soon as the progressive left realizes that the targets are black Democrats.

Progressives use race first as a weapon.  They wield it as a massive club, seeking to bludgeon opponents into shamed silence.  "How dare you oppose Barack Obama's policies.  You are obviously a RACIST." Progressives fetch that weapon with such regularity because it works so bloody well, especially against other liberals.  White guilt is a prominent psychological malady among Caucasian upper-middle class liberals.  They're ashamed of slavery.  They're ashamed of Jim Crow.  They're ashamed of the white backlash against the Civil Rights movement, and not just in the south.  The weapon is also effective against moderates, who would rather be caught dead than be accused of having ulterior motives in supporting or opposing a policy matter.  Thus, use of racial bias is effective in cobbling together the however slight majority is needed to implement new progressive policies or seat progressive advocates in positions of power.  Opposition to healthcare reform was framed as racist.  Opposition to Justice Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court was framed as racist.  The ethics allegations against Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters are being framed as racist.  It goes on and on because it's effective.

The Rangel and Waters cases demonstrate another way that the progressive left uses race.  When their bludgeoning has failed to produce a desired result, progressives use race as a shield and quickly retreat behind it.  The plummeting approval ratings of both Congress and the White House, according to progressives, have nothing to do with the public's rejection of the radical leftist agenda.  It's because Barack Obama is black.  The charges against Rangel and Waters are racially motivated because well, it's Congress and everybody does it and why single out blacks?  And who can forget what the first allegations against Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and her state's new immigration enforcement law were?


Enough moderate and conservative black citizens have decided to take their own stands.  People like Anita Moncrief, Deroy Murdock, Thomas Sowell, Colonel Allen West and a host of others are weathering "Uncle Tom" and Oreo criticism for recognizing the flaws in progressive policy and standing up as Americans.

Moderates, swing voters and ordinary Americans can stop the race-card foolishness by joining Moncrief, Murdock, Sowell, West et al by simply refusing to play along with the progressives. If you are opposed to a policy change or a candidate, or if you believe charges of corruption are founded in basic American principles of freedom, smaller government and the rule of law, you state that and steadfastly defend your views. Articulate your reasoning and calmly explain the logic behind your position.  Snatch the bludgeon--or the shield--from the progressives' hands, and toss it aside.  Make them defend their views on the merits of their arguments.  If black conservatives can do it, the mushy middle can too, if they decide to use the spine their Creator placed in their backs.
