Democrat anger grows as Honduran refugees’ march takes too long to reach U.S.

imageA fresh new wave of Central American immigrants has just crossed the Guatemalan border on their way to seek asylum in the United States. The development comes as Democrat officials express anger and frustration at the slow pace of the caravan.

“They started their journey too late, and they’re taking too long,” said one Democrat National Committee Member who asked not to be named. “The midterm election is only three weeks away, and they still have about 1,000 miles to go.”

“We’re going to have a hard time getting them all to the right checkpoints,” said another unnamed Democrat communications strategist.  “Certain checkpoints are better than others because they have better camera angles and create the best optics for the last advertisements we intend to run just before November 6.“

Democrats are watching summer poll leads evaporate after they overplayed their hand in dragging out the Brent Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation process. They believe images of refugee women and children crying will tug at enough American heartstrings to give them the election boost needed to take control of the House of Representatives and Senate.

“We actually gave the caravan organizers more than enough time to get their people moving soon enough to get here in time for the refugees to vote in Texas and Arizona, but those lazy sots waited weeks to get on the road and get here by Halloween. This was a big, expensive effort to sway the election,” said the DNC member.

“This refugee delay probably cost us the Senate,” said the strategist. “And it could cost us the House too, if they don’t get a move on.”

Republicans declined comment on the record when asked about their opponents’ plan to use the refugees as campaign material. “We have no words,” said a White House officials.

Ten reasons why Arkansas should hire Mike Shula

image With the firing of head coach Bobby Petrino this week, The Arkansas Razorbacks football program is now in the market for a new head coach.

Jeff Long must hire Mike Shula, and do it yesterday.

The man has been down this path before. He knows how to step in after spring training and take over a team. Not only that, he’s followed in the steps of a philanderer who embarrassed himself and his employer. He’s been there, done that and got the T-shirt. Aside from that no-brainer, Here are ten other reasons why the only logical, sane and obvious choice for the job is former Alabama head coach Mike Shula.

10. Pay no attention to his deer-in-the-headlights performance at his introductory press conference in 2003. The man does coach speak like no other and will articulately explain how Arkansas is “almost there.”

9. Joe Kines is just what the Arkansas defense needs to step up to the next level. Ya just gotta stop that little inside trout.

8. Bob Connelly—aka “Bucket Step Bob”—can come in and immediately show the offensive line how to move their feet and get the hell out of the way. No one bullrushes anymore, right?

7. He’s a players’ coach. He only suspends them when they’ve been really, really bad and gives out ice cream cones after they serve suspensions against lollipop opponents.

6. Dude, have you seen his wife? Jessica Dorrell is small time compared to Shari Shula. He’ll keep his britches on.

5. Knile Davis. Jumbo package. Can’t miss. They’ll have a lot of success with that formation. Trust me on this.

4. He is the son of legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula. No further qualifications needed.

3. He will take the Razorbacks to glorious places. Like Hawai’i. And, Shreveport.

2. Arkansas won’t have to worry about beating Auburn or LSU. It will lose with class, but get its signature wins against Florida.

1. Only Mike Shula and Gerry DiNardo can pave the way for Nick Saban to take over. And Gerry DiNardo ain’t walking through that door.

Jack “The Face” Blankenship wants to parlay his fame into the President’s Mansion

If Jack “The Face” Blankenship doesn’t defeat The Machine® and loses his bid for UA President, his campaign video still wins the internet.

I support his bid to end the playing of Nickelback on 90.7. As Jack says, “no one needs that.”

@BanditRef nails it again: Every conversation with the media…

Banditref pokes fun at the baloney on white bread predictions we get from major sports media, who see their prognostications destroyed once the teams take the field on that first week in September. That week can’t get here soon enough, because you know what? This is pretty much what we’ll have to put up with between now and then.

Enjoy. Visit BanditRef here and follow him on Twitter here.

WTF, Rudolph? Santa’s Sleigh Meets Captain Scrooge

This was sent to me by blog reader and awesome Twitter follower @rueben_poole.

"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
But dammit, Rudolph how could you not see Captain Scrooge? Not at all?"

image

Santa appears to say: “WTF, Rudolph?”

image

It looks like a USAF Reserve jet successfully intercepted Santa. Captain Scrooge is apparently NOT a graduate of Top Gun school.

image

Here’s Captain Scrooge himself, who appears to be somewhat upset at what he’s caused.

image

An elf scrapes some of the debris off of the tail. I guess little Sarah will have to wait until next year for her new Tricycle.

image

The National Transportation Safety Board will need this photo, as it shows the point of impact. Gory stuff, I know.

image

At least some of Santa’s Reindeer survived the impact. But the debris is everywhere…

AUBURN, Alabama -- The Auburn police department will have a bird's eye view of Toomer's Corner this weekend after bringing in a portable observation tower to watch over the Auburn University landmark.

The tower is located across the street from the historic oak trees, which were allegedly poisoned by Alabama fan Harvey Updyke after Auburn beat Alabama last season.

With the Big 12 “done,” this was just bound to happen

Sources tell the Austin-American Statesman that Texas officials traveled to Norman, OK this week to try salvaging the sinking Big 12 Conference. However, those sources say Oklahoma and likely Oklahoma State are looking for exits, with a possible destination of the Pac 12.

“The Big 12 is done,” according to the paper’s source.

With that being the case, we did a quick scan of Ebay and what do we have here?!?

BAMBI gives Clay Travis a Thumper?

Clay Travis, owner of the recent upstart website, Outkickedthecoverage.com, has recently written several blog posts discussing Alabama football players and their clothes. We aren't really sure why Clay is so obsessed with the attire of Alabama football players, but he does seem to have a hard-on for the young men of Alabama and their fashion.
One would think that because of Clay's obsession with young men and their clothing, he would have been the one to do the initial digging into the issue. Well, he wasn't. It was the Bunker, aka BAMBI (Bureau of Auburn Message Board Investigators). Apparently the Bunker, and its many BAMBI agents, all share Clay's obsession with young Alabama men and their clothes. You can clearly see from these message board screenshots exactly where the plan was hatched and the information discovered...

This post from the Bunker was made on July 21, 2011, which is prior to Clay Travis' first article published about the Alabama football player's clothing habits.

So, how does a message board post get all the way up the ladder to such an esteemed blog as Mr. Travis’ Outkickedthecoverage.com? Well, you’re in luck. Through our double secret agents deep within BAMBI, we have received the actual transcript of the Google chat conversation between one BAMBI agent and Clay Travis.
Begin transcript
BAMBI agent: Hey, Clay. We have a HUGE story about Alabama. You interested in breaking it?
Clay: I'm listening.
BAMBI agent: Well it appears a black football player at the University of Alabama has a lot of clothes.
Clay: Seriously? A BLACK football player has a lot of clothes?
BAMBI agent: YES! Can you believe it?
Clay: How can we prove it?
BAMBI agent: we have pictures of him in LOTS OF DIFFERENT CLOTHES.
Clay: OMGWTFBBQ
Clay: Can you send me the pictures right away?
BAMBI agent: ygm
Clay: Oh, wow! JACK POT BABY!!! Wow, there are so many clothes. This is unreal. There is no way a black Alabama football player can have that many clothes.
BAMBI agent: I know, right? Glad we’re on the same wavelength. He’s got to be cheating.
Clay: We’ve got to expose this. The NCAA must find out about this! We have a duty to keep blacks from owning this many clothes and I’ll make damn sure I’m on top of these young men exposing this as hard as I can.
BAMBI agent: Excellent, Clay. If we come across any more pictures of young black Alabama men in clothes, we’ll shove your inbox full of our stuff.
Clay: Shove away!
End of transcript.

Gimme some feedback in the comments.

Who da “Third Party Bagman?” Rounding up the suspects

In light of Danny Sheridan’s little bombshell on the Paul Finebaum Radio Network yesterday afternoon, the crack IBCR Investigative Team have decided to look high and low for the elusive bagman.

Here are the most likely suspects.

Georgia Quarterback Aaron Murray was caught red-handed taking a man purse stuffed with something from a known Operation Red Dog operative. Our undercover photographer snapped this shot.

image

This guy swears that it’s not a man-purse. It’s a satchel. But he wouldn’t tell us what was in it.

image

Friends of the Program found this guy. And, he’s fabulous.

image

We think this might be a little too obvious. But you never know.

image

We tried to interview this Auburn fan, but when she realized what this was all about, she went all emo on us and started screaming…

image We’ll continue our search and let you know what other ne’er do-wells we turn up.

In bold move, Auburn names Gus Malzahn the Head Coach in Waiting

image Auburn University today said that it was taking a “bold step” to protect current Offensive Coordinator Gus Malzahn from being “raided by rogue programs searching for coaches,” like Ohio State, and named the offensive wizard its Head Coach in Waiting.

Undeterred by the public relations disaster at Florida State, where the school reportedly forced legendary Bobby Bowden out so Jimbo Fisher could take the reigns, Auburn plans to finalize the deal and get a contract done before the start of the 2011 season. Auburn also appears unmoved by the developing dumpster fire at West Virginia, where the current Head Coach and/or his wife may be spreading malicious rumors about the Coach in Waiting there.

Asked also about Coach-in-Waiting arrangements that saw Texas’ Coach in Waiting Will Muschamp get tired of waiting and jump to take the Florida job and James Franklin fleeing Maryland for the safety of Vanderbilt, Athletics Director Jay Jacobs told assembled media at the hastily called press conference that he thought it was the right move at the right time.

“Everyone saw Gus’ gutsy play-calling and game management skills during the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Gus is a really hot commodity right now in the coaching profession, and we want to make sure he stays here and takes over for Coach Chizik. Gus is the only decent coach on the whole damned staff an important part of the Auburn Fambly now.”

Jacobs waved off suggestions that having a Coach in Waiting breathing down the neck of the current Head Coach might cause tensions between the two.

“Gus has always gotten along great with those he’s worked with and worked for. Just ask Houston Nutt. Gus is a team player. He’s FAMBLY; He’s ALL IN!”

Jacobs also dismissed the idea that any upcoming sanctions resulting from investigations possible recruiting violations might have played a role in the school’s decision.

“We have the best compliance department in the SEC. The NCAA already investigated Cam and he did nothing wrong. All those people are just being haters. Energy Vampires. That’s what all that is.”

Coach Gene Chizik could not be reached directly for comment.
