Liberal activists vs liberal activists, reloaded

MizzouThe other day, we touched on the subject of how a liberal is supposed to act when one of the left’s favored classes (LGBT community is attacked by another favored class (Muslims).

Today we have the answer: Double Down.

Via Hotair.com’s Jazz Shaw:

A vigil Monday planned by several University of Missouri student organizations was supposed to honor victims of Sunday morning’s deadly shooting rampage in a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla.

It turned into a blame session against Mizzou’s LGBTQ community for not being intersectional enough.

At the University of Missouri, a group of students staged a vigil in memory of the victims, standing in solidarity with the gay and lesbian civilians who were murdered by the now infamous ISIS supporter. Their planned memorial hit a sour note, however, when another student showed up to decry the service because it wasn’t focused on the correct demographic group. (The College Fix)

Jazz posed the same question that entered my mind: “Do you suppose that there’s any room left in our collective consciousness to realize that we are at war and facing an enemy whose brutality and utter lack of any semblance of humanity knows no bounds? We’re turning the worst radical Islamist terror attack on our home soil since 9-11 into a social justice debate. This is a 21st century version of Nero fiddling while Rome goes up in flames.”

My answer is “no.” Not if you’re a progressive special snowflake with a purpose. The leader of the disruptive petulance doesn’t care that most of the victims of the Orlando slaughter were Latinos like herself. All she cares about is why all of these white, gay vigil-goers weren’t out marching the streets, smashing storefronts and shutting down events for Ol’ Teddy Bear, Michael Brown.

In fact, the entire left side of the political spectrum is trying to turn an apolitical, ideological rampage into a ppolitical impetus to pass restrictive new gun laws. None of that would have done nothing to stop any mass murdering whacko from murdering en masse, but they don’t care. All of their proposals would necessarily infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens without due process.

First they deprive you of the right to arm yourself, then they deprive you of the right to speak out, and then they start depriving you of mobility.

Fortunately however, this little bruhaha at Mizzou shows that they don’t yet have their shit together. Can we pray that they never do, while we also laugh at the little snowflakes going at each others’ throats? In the wake of that tragedy; with the current administration showing no signs of addressing the real problem of growing radical islam violence, laughter may be all we have left until the real shooting war starts.

What’s a liberal to do after Orlando massacre?

Serious question: What’s a liberal to do when a member of a protected group attacks and kills scores of members of another protected, persecuted and much maligned group?

On Saturday, the radical islamic jihadi Omar Mateen pledged his allegiance to ISIS. He then took his brand new arsenal of high powered weapons into a crowded LGBT bar and shot the place up. In his wake were 50 dead—including himself.

In liberals’ warped idea of the utopian universe, this wasn’t supposed to happen.

There are two immutable truths at work here, neither of which a liberal can or even wants to comprehend: First, radical islam hates homosexuality and second, the LGBT movement loves celebrating and showing off their homosexuality.

It doesn’t take a Nobel peace prize winner to figure out what’s gonna happen sooner or later. But God love’em, the left never saw Orlando coming.

The whole progressive culture machine is at a loss. They can’t admit that an allegedly persecuted group hates another allegedly persecuted group so much that Group A will faithfully murder Group B. Doing so would be admitting that they were wrong, and liberals never admit they were wrong.

So what’s the progressive culture machine left to do?

At LEAST Fifty dead, dozens more wounded in Orlando terrorist attack; Muslim leader blames ‘mass shootings.’

There are at least fifty people dead as a result of a radicalized Muslim who, according to authorities, carefully planned and came prepared to kill in the name of his God.

At about 2:00 am local time, Omar Mateen, 29, walked into the Pulse club in Orlando, opened fire and killed at least fifty innocent Americans. He left dozens others wounded, many in critical condition.

Fox News has the story:

The gunman was identified as Omar Mateen, Rep. Alan Grayson said during a Sunday morning press conference. Mateen was a U.S. citizen, Grayson said, though that was "not true of other family members of his." Mateen, 29, lived in Fort Pierce, Fla. He was born in the U.S. to parents of Afghan origin and was a Muslim, Fox News confirmed.

Authorities were going through Mateen's belongings on Sunday morning trying to identify a motive for the attack, Grayson said.

"More likely than not that it was an ideologically motivated attack," Grayson said, though he said it was unclear if Mateen was linked to any terror groups.

The mainstream media won’t go there, but I damned sure will: as the Fort Hood and San Bernardino massacres showed us, a whacked out jihadi like Omar doesn’t need funding or direction from ISIS or Al Qaeda to wreak havoc on innocent American citizens. All he needs is the insanity of radical Islam and an Imam willing to brush off the mayhem by shifting blame:

Imam Muhammad Musri said police have determined there has been no connection to anyone else. No, police have not said that, they said they are still investigating. Now he’s saying we have to look to issue of mass shootings, ‘we must do something to stop the mass shootings that are happening all the time’. On the other hand, he said people should not ‘jump to conclusions’ as to blame, that we must ‘come together.’

No sir, Imam. What we need to stop are people teaching radical interpretations of the Quran while shifting blame to a non-existent trend in mass shootings.

The current administration wants to import thousands of undocumented refugees from radicalized Muslim countries into the U.S. GOP nominee Donald Trump was widely criticized for calling for a halt in resettlement of these refugees until we can better determine where they’re from and what they’re up to. Given that (1), the likelihood of our government developing a vetting system that works is negligible and (2), we have San Bernardino, Fort Hood and now Orlando as evidence of what they’re gonna be up to if they’ve found ‘religion’, it sounds like Mr. Trump has the right plan and Democrats have the wrong one. (but I repeat myself there, don’t I?)

Exit question: If you were a betting man or woman, what odds would you lay that the club attacked last night was a supposed ‘Gun Free Zone?’ Or, phrased another way, if you were a radical jihadi bent on killing dozens of infidels, where would you choose to open fire? A place where you know people can’t shoot back.

GREAT NEWS: Radical Muslim Imam caught sneaking across US-Mex border

image I suppose it is great news that US Customs and Border Patrol agents nabbed Said Jaziri before he could peddle his radical Islamic views (or worse) on US soil. But the troubling aspect of this incident is the answer to the question: How many more would-be terrorists have made the trip successfully?

Jaziri isn’t just a poor, persecuted refugee from the middle east. He is an avowed Sharia Law advocate and was known for his outspoken radicalism before Canadian authorities deported him to his native Tunisia.

From the LA Times:

In Quebec’s large Muslim community, Jaziri stood out for his outspoken views, and though his mosque was small, he drew outsized media attention for his strict interpretation of the Koran. Jaziri labeled homosexuality a sin and pushed for government subsidies to build a large mosque for Montreal’s growing Muslim population.

“His nickname in Quebec was the controversial imam,” said Lise Garon, a professor of communications at Laval University in Quebec City, adding that his case tapped into the anti-immigrant mood in the community. “I think he was deported because people hated his ideas.”

Let me take another stab at that, Dr. Garon. He was deported because Canadian authorities were legitimately concerned that his radical ideas would be put into action by a small, rabid group of followers.  That they found a legal reason to kick him out is just gravy on the plate.

Jaziri is not just your garden variety jihadi. He’s an Imam, whose teachings are to be taken as the word of Allah by his followers.  If he tells 60 or so impressionable young Mohammed Atta’s to hijack aircraft or blow up Times Square, they’re supposed to go do it.

Domodedovo Airport bomb blast reminds us that Russia has an islamist problem, too (UPDATE: Video added)

image

Updated to add links and video.

An explosion has ripped through Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport—the busiest such facility in Russia. While the AP is cautiously suggesting that it was caused by a suicide bomber, it reminds us that Russia has an islamicist problem, too.

The country has been fighting islamic separatists in the Caucasus region of Chechnya, and while there have been few incidents of late, the separatists have perpetrated some horrific and bloody attacks in the past.

Ed Morrissey at HotAir.com notes from the AP story that In 2004, suicide bombers boarded airplanes at Domodedovo by bribing airport personnel. The bombers blew themselves up in mid-air, killing all 90 people aboard the two flights.

But a few weeks after that event, 32 heavily armed islamic militants guerrillas seized a school in Beslan near the border with Chechnya, and held more than 1,000 children, teachers and parents hostage.  That incident left 335 hostages dead—including 186 children—and  hundreds more wounded.

Islamicists don’t care who they kill. If they’ll mow down innocent children in a hail of gunfire and incendiary bombs, what’s a few dozen busy travelers at Moscow’s busiest airport?

Look, we know who these people are. We know their ethnicity. We know their religious affiliation. We know their genders and approximate age ranges. We also know that they intend to kill us and they are more than willing to be blown to bits themselves in the name of Allah!

How many more people need to die before the west realizes that these people need to be profiled, isolated and scrutinized before being even allowed within spitting distance of large congregations of the public?

Americans, Britons, Spaniards, Frenchmen and Russians need to wake up. We are at war with religious fanatics and their “soldiers” are among us.

Update: Video from the scene, moments after the blast. Warning: Some graphic images may be visible.

What about the Ground Zero Church?

St. Nicholas was a small, four-story masonry building, housing a Greek Orthodox Christian Church that was destroyed on September 11, 2001 when one of the Twin Towers collapsed on it during the worst terrorist attack in this history of this country.

While the Cordoba House Project—the Ground Zero mosque—raced through regulatory approval last month, the rebuilding of St. Nicholas was put on hold by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.  Government officials say the matter is closed and will not be reopened.

imageThe Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America accused New York officials on Tuesday of turning  their backs on the reconstruction of the only church destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks, while the controversial mosque near Ground Zero moves forward.

…

An archdiocese official said Tuesday that the situation has created "consternation" for those still struggling to jump-start talks over the church.

"We have people that are saying, why isn't our church being rebuilt and why is there ... such concern for people of the mosque?" Father Alex Karloutsos, assistant to the archbishop, told FoxNews.com. He said "religious freedom" would allow a place of worship for any denomination to be built, but accused officials with the Port Authority of making no effort to help move the congregation's project along.

Someone please explain how government officials can fast track the construction of a brand new shrine to a Islam at Ground Zero and stand in the way of the rebuilding of a church that already existed there?  The mosque is a new project.  It will replace a facility that was damaged by the landing gear of one of the planes, and damaged so badly that engineers recommended its demolition.  The church was already there.

Michael Berry, a radio talk show host at KTRH in Houston, penned an editorial yesterday, which ran today in World Net Daily. In that piece, Michael writes the following:

On May 7, 2009, the first National Day of Prayer of his administration, President Obama broke with tradition by failing to hold a White House ceremony to honor the day.  Earlier this year he marked the second National Day of Prayer of his administration with the same inaction.  The president did, though, hold an Iftar dinner for Muslims, the feast breaking the daily fast during Ramadan, the holy month of Islam on August 13.  He invited ambassadors from Islamic nations like Saudi Arabia to celebrate the Muslim event.

It was at this event that he expressed his support for the mosque near the site of where the Twin Towers were taken down by Muslim terrorists.  While his press secretary declined to state the president's position on the issue earlier last week, calling it a question for "local decision-making," for some reason the president broke his silence during Ramadan observance and spoke out.  Such off-teleprompter bombs have caused his press team headaches in the past, but they suggest Obama's unscripted, core beliefs and expose a rare – if ugly – honesty in his calculated public positions.

Perhaps the liberals running New York are getting inspiration from Obama, who doesn’t hold the traditional, church going American in very high regard.  We are the “bitter clingers” he referred to when speaking to supporters in a part of the country that the left refers to as “fly over country.” Obama supports the construction of the mosque at ground zero because he knows how much of an insult it would be to ordinary Americans who simply want to worship in peace and have sacred ground remain sacred ground.

The plight of St. Nicholas is a microcosm of how the leftist ruling class views the other 75% of the country.  Thwarting the reconstruction of an existing Christian church while fast-tracking the construction of a new Islamic mosque—at Ground Zero—is spitting in the eye of America.

Update:  Doug Ross @ Journal has a different possibility for why the Obama mosque might get a little special nudge.

Barack ibn Jackal Obama al-Presidenti to host Ramadan meal

Barack Obama to host Ramadan Meal!

In a statement from the White House, teh One has announced that he will host an Iftar meal this evening to break his daily fast—the fast observed by Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.  Quoting from the release:
“And here in the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.”
No, Islam has not always been a part of America.  If it has, I would like Barack ibn Jackal Obama al-Presidenti to identify which one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence did the Ramadan thang.  Or, perhaps he could identify who among the participants in the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia broke his fast with the iftar.
Here is the WH release:

This just in: State Dept declares Taliban free of terrorists

The State Department, like most government agencies, treats a schedule more like a series of guidelines than it does a series of deadlines and milestones, so it's no real shocker that it's annual terrorist list group was released three months late. But what is unbelievable is that State has apparently declared the Taliban to be terrorist free: (emphasis added)

A new State Department report designating terrorist organizations notably excludes one group: the Taliban. The U.S. has been fighting a war in Afghanistan for almost a decade aimed at “defeating the Taliban,” Taliban members repeatedly have threatened and killed American citizens and lawmakers have increased pressure on State to add the Taliban to the list.

Earlier this summer, a group of congressional Democrats sent a letter to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton urging her to begin the process of categorizing the Taliban as a terrorist group. In June, Sens. Charles Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand of New York and Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez of New Jersey proposed legislation that would immediately add the Taliban to the terrorist list.

Yet the State Department’s report (due on April 30 but released last week), did not include the Taliban with groups such as al-Qaida, Hamas and the Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA). To qualify, an organization must meet only three criteria: It must be foreign, it must engage in terrorist activity and its activity must threaten the security of the U.S. or its citizens.

I'm just gonna ask...  Exactly which of the three criteria has the Taliban successfully avoided detection in?

Indictments: Jihad in the Heart of Dixie?

Al-Shabaab in the Heart of Dixie?  No way, right?

Way.

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice announced the indictments and arrests of 14 individuals suspected of  providing money, personnel and services to the Somali-based terrorist organization known as Al-Shabaab.

In the Southern District of Alabama, prosecutors unsealed a superseding indictment charging Omar Shafik Hammami, a U.S. citizen and former resident of Alabama, with providing material support to al-Shabaab. Separately, prosecutors in the Southern District of California unsealed an indictment charging Jehad Serwan Mostafa, a U.S. citizen and former resident of California, with providing material support to al-Shabaab.
...
Today in the Southern District of Alabama, prosecutors unsealed a September 2009 superseding indictment against Omar Hammami, 26, a U.S. citizen and former resident of Daphne, Alabama, also known as “Abu Mansour al-Amriki,” or “Farouk.”

The three-count indictment alleges that Hammami provided material support, including himself as personnel, to terrorists; conspired to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, al-Shabaab, and provided material support to al-Shabaab. Hammami faces a potential 15 years in prison for each of the three counts of the indictment. He is not in custody and is currently believed to be in Somalia.

Ok, I'm feigning shock, because the story of Abu Mansour al-Amriki made news here last fall, and again last winter. "Al-Amriki" is the nom de guerre of Omar Hammami, a Syrian-American Muslim who grew up in Daphne, Alabama, a bedroom community across the bay from Mobile.

I'm not feigning concern, though.  Daphne, like most parts of Alabama, are staunchly conservative.  Hammani was reported to be an otherwise normal teenager, attending the local high school and enjoying the things that teenagers usually do.  But, something obviously changed.  Wonder where?  Wonder how?

Maybe it was here, at the Islamic Center of Mobile, which is located right across Old Shell Road from the University of South Alabama.  Maybe a trusting and impressionable young Hammani was taken in by the radical ideas of a hardcore islamist imam.  I'm just speculating of course, but it's hard to see how an otherwise normal kid from an upscale, well-heeled community like Daphne just "got religion" and declared Jihad! all by himself.

Grow up, Mr. President

In his Inaugural Address, President Barack Hussein Obama held out a symbolic olive branch to the Muslim faith, using this uplifting oratory:

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.

In April 2009, barely three months into his regime, President Obama told a press conference in Turkey that "we (America) do not consider ourselves a Christian nation."

In May 2009, just a few weeks after his trip to Turkey, the radical Islamists showed us their "unclenched fist." James Cromitie (aka Abdul Rahman) allegedly recruited three converted Muslims--David Williams (aka Daoud), Onta Williams (aka Hamza) and LaGurre Payen (aka Almondo) and hatched a plot to blow up a synagogue in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and shoot down or destroy military aircraft flown by the New York Air National Guard.  Their plot was foiled by good police-work and fortunately, no one was harmed.

Just two weeks later, yet another converted Muslim, 23-year old Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, was arrested and charged with the shooting death of one US soldier and seriously wounded another at a Little Rock Army Recruiting Center. At the time, officials openly speculated whether Muhammad was part of a larger plan to attack US military targets on US soil, possibly coordinated by Al Qaeda.  Unlike the Riverdale Four plot, a life was lost in this episode.  Officials believe Muhammad's motive was anger at US treatment of Muslims and discontent over the Afganistan and Iraq wars.

On November 5, 2009, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly opened fire on fellow US soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas. When the smoke cleared, Hasan had killed 13 and wounded 30 others. Hasan is an American-born Muslim of Palestinian origin. Investigators poring over Hasan's communications discovered that he'd corresponded via email with Anwar al-Awlaki, a US-born, Yemen-based Al Qaeda operative and organizer. al-Awlaki has released video praising Hasan for the attack and urging other US Muslims to follow suit.

On December 25, the alleged Christmas Day Bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, boarded Northwest Airlines Flight 253 in Amsterdam, bound for Detroit, Michigan. According to official reports, Abdulmutallab had an [ahem] "improvised explosive device" hidden in his underwear, which he attempted to set off as the plane made its final approach over Detroit. The bomb was a dud--igniting but failing to donate and apparently only slightly injuring  Abdulmutallab. The flight was loaded with holiday travelers, and had he been successful, the tragedy would have brought back memories of the Lockerbie tragedy.  Abdulmutallab was born in Nigeria and spent time in London, where some experts believe he may have been "radicalized."

On May 1, 2010, Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistan-born naturalized US citizen, allegedly parked an SUV loaded with incendiary and explosive materials near a popular theater in Times Square, New York. Explosives officials and investigators say that Shahzad's shoddy construction techniques led to the bomb failing to detonate. But had it been just a little better built mouse trap, it could have killed hundreds of tourists and New Yorkers. As of this writing, details of Shahzad's connections to radical islamist groups are still being developed, but indications are that he had help from someone, somewhere.

Since Mr. Obama's Inauguration Speech Olive Branch, no less than five terrorist attacks have been attempted or perpetrated on US soil. This must come as an incredulity to the young idealist in the White House, but it's time to outgrow the naivete and get back to the business of protecting the citizens of the United States against people who want them dead, regardless of who the President is. They don't care about his African heritage. They don't care about his exposure as a youth to Muslim religion or culture. And they don't care about any uplifting phraseology delivered from the steps of the Capitol.

Mr. President, it is time to grow up.

Extra Point:
