Meet the BAMS Radio Fax Cam Girl

imageYesterday, BAMS Radio gave college football fans across the country a special treat during its coverage of National Signing Day 2012.

From 7:00 am until shortly after 1:00 pm, the internet radio show hosted a live webcam feed of an attractive young woman—clad in a flattering houndstooth mini dress—showing off the names of football players enrolling at the University of Alabama.

For the last two years, the University of Alabama hosted a live internet broadcast from the football complex, showing Alabama cheerleaders removing faxed national letters of intent and posting names of signed players. After complaints from unknown rival schools, TideTV halted the show.

That’s where BAMS Radio picked up the baton and owned the internet. In just five hours, the feed had over 200,000 hits and had more than 3,000 people watching simultaneously.

Alabama may have landed the No. 1 recruiting class, but clearly BAMS Radio won National Signing Day.

IBCR caught up with Jen, the charming young woman who mesmerized college football fans, in an effort to get to know her a little better and get her reaction to becoming an internet sensation.

“I had no idea how big it was going to be. I don’t think Greg at BAMS did, either. He thought there’d be only a few thousand visitors. Having hundreds of thousands watching was a real surprise.

“I’ve known the BAMS radio team for a long time. My husband and father work with those guys and we have a great relationship. They’re fun people to work with and be with. So I thought it would be fun, and it was!”

Trust me: What you saw yesterday does this woman no justice at all. She is charming, articulate and educated. She’s also driven and seems headed for success. This is no shrinking violet with a pretty face and alluring curves.

She is a pole fitness instructor at PYT Studio in Hoover, a suburb of Birmingham in central Alabama. Gigs like the BAMS Radio appearance and fitness classes at the studio are how she helps make ends meet. That’s important, she says.

“I’m a part time student, and tuition and other costs of college aren’t cheap,” she said. “Things like this help a lot. It’s exposure for me and exposure for the studio. Our clientele is 100% female. We don’t take men in our classes.”

Her point: Any woman can have curves that kill. “All they have to do is call the studio and sign up.”

What does she want to do later in life?

“I want to finish my college degree and someday, open my own studio. I want to teach fitness using the pole technique and spinning. I also want to teach self-defense, karate and other martial arts. A big part of what I want to do is to empower women.”

Amen to that.

Exit question: Jen, are you an Alabama fan? “You bet I am. Roll Tide all the way, Baby!”

ANNOUNCEMENT: The officially UNOFFICIAL Fax Cam is back!

The University of Alabama decided not to bring back its somewhat controversial live video feed of the football department’s fax machine. Apparently, some pantywaist elsewhere in the Southeastern Conference complained to the league office, muttering something about skirts and a competitive advantage. As a result, the UA athletic department cancelled the 2012 show.

Not to worry, Bama fans and football fanatics everywhere. Via BAMS Radio, a live video feed will be broadcast from the website starting at 7:00 am and broadcast continuously until the last papers are in.

You can tune into the broadcast by visiting the BamsRadio.com website.

UPDATE: In response to email and DM's: The answer is YES. There will be eye candy and YES, it will be SFW. That's how we roll.

We’re expecting to hear news that each of the standouts below will join the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2012 squad, with perhaps a surprise or two!
