WAC Won't Be a Football Conference Beyond 2012

The commissioner of the Western Athletic Conference said Monday that it has become apparent the league won't have enough football members to compete after this season.

Quotable:

At this point, the competition between Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley has drug on long enough. Moseley has said his injured throwing shoulder still limits his passing arsenal. Either Frazier has taken advantage of a two-man quarterback race that only features one healthy quarterback, or he hasn’t. If it’s the latter, the Tigers’ season is already off on the wrong foot.

It’s clear this competition has lingered longer than coach Gene Chizik would have liked. He said as much Friday night after practice. While there is “no chance,” Chizik said, of Auburn entering the season without naming a starter, each day matters.

The longer Auburn waits, the less time it has to prepare for Clemson – and the rest of its season – with one player at the most important position on the field.
