The Return of Johnny Football

Johnny Football returning to Texas A&M campus

Fear not, those worried that Johnny Manziel was not getting the full college experience.

After coming under heavy fire when he revealed last week at the Davey O'Brien Awards Ceremony in Fort Worth that he was taking all of his classes this semester at Texas A&M via online courses, Manziel will be returning to campus in the fall for a full slate of classes.

A source close to Manziel told CBSSports.com that, due to his major, the Heisman Trophy winner will take most or all of his classes on campus in the fall because of the way his major is set up.

Manziel choose to go the online courses route this spring because of all the attention he garnered after winning the Heisman Trophy and taking Texas A&M on an impressive run that saw them upset Alabama and defeat Oklahoma in the AT&T Cotton Bowl on FOX.

This is a good thing for the Aggies. Nothing poisons the locker room more effectively than a prima donna player who gets special treatment. With very few exceptions, such an environment creates hostility and disunity, something that no team gunning for a run at the SEC West is likely to overcome.

This may be too little, too late, though. Since winning the Heisman, Manziel has been seen watching NBA games from pricey courtside seats, hamming it up with celebrities, partying down at night clubs and showing off wads of cash at a casino. He's an outgoing kid who's enjoying the limelight of success and obviously getting into as much fun as he can.

Bottling him up off the field is turning out to be as difficult as containing him on it but if his team thinks that he thinks he's too special for the grind they all have to endure, they won't mind so much if he gets smacked down to reality on a third and long.
