The Alabama High School Athletic Association has cleared Alabama 2013 commit Darius Paige’s transfer as a bona fide move and will allow the rising Senior to play with the Lions.
Paige was the center of a tempest in a teapot mild controversy earlier this month, when Washington (Pensacola) High School officials ranted about the involvement of Alabama assistant football coach Jeremy Pruitt in the transfer.
Washington’s coach and athletic director both protested in Pensacola media reports that Pruitt had encouraged Paige to transfer to Foley because of a more accommodating academic program at the Baldwin County school.
In related news, Auburn commit Reuben Foster has also been cleared to play at Auburn High School.
Both prospects are believed to need to hit the books extra hard in 2012 to make eligibility next fall.
