Wednesday Weekly: Football Season Tickets and Student Seating News - Texas A&M Official Athletic Site - AggieAthletics.com

Via AggieAthletics.comMany of you have been chatting and sending us letters regarding the longstanding SEC regulation that requires the home team’s band and students, if seated on the same side of the stadium as the visiting team bench, to be located outside the 30-yard lines and no closer than 25 rows from the field. One of the first items we noted in the Commissioner’s Regulations when we joined the SEC was our current band and student seating configuration would be in violation of the regulations. Last month, student leaders asked us to appeal to the SEC and request a waiver that would allow us to keep our band and student seating the same as we have in years past.
Recently, we received word our waiver request was denied. This means the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band will be moved to sections 139 and 140, while the remaining student seats affected by the 25-row and 30-yard line rule will be relocated to the south endzone bleachers. We plan to fill the vacated area with season tickets.
The move actually increased our student seating to an SEC leading 30,284.
Commissioner Slive told us the SEC treasures our traditions and does not want to do anything to negatively impact our gameday experience.
