Rivals 100 already showing Bama edge for top 2013 class

One week removed from National Signing Day 2012 and the Rivals 100 for the 2013 class already shows an edge for Nick Saban & Co. to land another top ranked recruiting class. The top 100 prospects were released by the recruiting service today and the list features four prospects already committed to the Crimson Tide.

Topping the Alabama commitment list is 6-2, 228 lb LB Reuben Foster from LaGrange, GA, who currently ranks No. 2. Also on the list are Altee Tenpenny at No. 20, O.J. Howard at No. 35 and ArDarius Stewart at No. 75.

The top overall prospect is beastly Robert Nkemdiche, the 6-5 260 lb defensive lineman who reminds many of former Troy standout Demarcus Ware. He has Alabama high on his list.

Alabama signed a consensus No. 1 overall class last Wednesday.

Coming off of a 21-0 victory over LSU to claim the BCS National Championship, you expect a healthy recruiting bounce one year later and the 2013 class is already showing at least some signs of that.

What else drives top recruits to Alabama? How about the 38 football players on the Academic Honor Roll for the 2011-12 season and the nine players invited to the NFL Combine later this month in Indianapolis.

When your program becomes a place where you compete for (and win) national championships, give you a great chance to earn a degree from a top university and have a shot at a career in the NFL, it is what Stewart Mandel describes as a self-sustaining beast.
