Saban stresses importance of spring practice for 2012 Crimson Tide

In about 7:00 minutes of remarks following Alabama’s opening session of Spring drills, coach Nick Saban discusses the need to put the 2011 championship run behind them and seek a “new identity.” He also notes the position moves of Barrett Jones and Brent Calloway, and discusses how important the Spring sessions are to players seeking to make an impression and get on the field.

Exit question: Given the absence of Duron Carter (and others), what do Saban’s expectations of spring drill performance mean for those who don’t do the work necessary to be on the field in the coming weeks?
