With Georgia's visit the first of eight SEC games for Missouri this fall — plus nonconference games against Arizona State, Central Florida and Syracuse — Pinkel acknowledged the historic magnitude of tonight's game but refused to add more layers to its meaning.

Any impression Missouri makes tonight only lasts until the next game.

"It's the first conference game, and it's historic, and then we will wake up Sunday morning and prepare for the next one," he said.

And by then, a new perception of Missouri will have taken shape, in some way or another, in the Tigers' new recruiting grounds.
