The year of the toy: 2010’s Top Ten Gadgets

Wired.com, via CNN, runs down and discusses the the 10 most significant gadgets of a very toy-centric 2010 calendar year. I won’t spoil the #1 for you (although you have probably already guessed), but the Samsung Focus with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 comes in at a respectable #4, despite the fact that the phone and OS weren’t rolled out to consumers until the 4th Quarter. I reviewed the Focus last month. There’s still some work to be done, but all in all, it’s a great step for Microsoft.

One ranking I do take issue with is putting Amazon’s Kindle at #10. I really think it belongs in the Top 5, if not the Top 3, if not #1. Witness the beginning of the end of the brick and mortar libraries and bookstores.

Anyway, on with the list.
